12,500 kVA transformer being delivered to Mae Sot on the Thai/Burmese border!
Here's a picture of one of our transformers being delivered to the town of Mae Sot on the Burmese border with Thailand. One has to drive over two mountain passes to get to the border. The transformer was for a new ethanol refinery that utilizes sugar cane that was, due to mining, contaminated and not fit for human consumption...hence they built this massive ethanol refinery so that the farmers can still grow sugar cane and realize a cash crop.
Experiencing the energy industry in S.E.Asia
This blog is being created to document my travels and experiences working within the transformer industry in Thailand. I am fortunate to now live in Thailand, having moved from San Francisco California, and am the international marketing director for a Thai power and step-down distribution transformer company called ThaiPatanakit Transformer (www.thaipatanakit.co.th).
The company is family owned and produces an average of about 3000 transformers a year our of their factory near Bangkok's new airport.
ThaiPatanakit Transformer produces both Single & Three-Phase Products, rated from 1-20,000 kVA up to 75,000V.
Presently they also work within the Laos PRD market and are just entering Cambodia where I've set up a factory representative office in Phnom Penh.
This blog will somewhat chronicle my travels throughout S.E.Asia on behalf of ThaiPatanakit Transformer Co. and will also include perspectives on the various countries I visit such as Cambodia, Myanmar, Laos and the other ASEAN countries I'm tasked with developing.
Hope this proves to be interesting for those of you perhaps living in the Western world and wonder what it's like to dive into other cultures and countries!
